EVENING WEDDING
RICHLY EMBROIDERED GOWN TALBOT—KNOWLES St. Matthew’s Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday evening when Violet Ruby, eldest daughter of Mrs. Knowles, of Dunedin, became the wife of Stanley Charles, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Talbot, of Mount Eden. T UE bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. Orr, of Dunedin, wearing a model frock of white georgette, richly embroidered in diamente and silver. Falling from a silver halo head-dress the tulle veil formed a graceful train. Silver shoes and a sheaf of Christmas lilies completed a very 'charming toilette. Three bridesmaids were in attendance. Miss Elva Jamieson, chief bridesmaid, was gowned in deep cream lace and georgette fashioned on the uneven hemline with a sunset-coloured bow of taffeta, and a tulle and diamente head-dress. She carried a bouquet of apricot and pink roses and carnations.
Miss Eva Talbot, sister of the bridegroom, wore blue crepe martena embroidered in lemon and gold. Miss Joy Knowles, the bride’s sister, wore pink crepe martena, with guipure lace. Both wore tulle head-dresses and carried bouquets to tone. Canon C. H. Grant Cowen officiated and the duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Mr. H. Woods and Mr. P. Doull respectively.
The bride’s mother wore a black and beige frock and bat, and carried a bouquet of red roses. The bridegroom’s mother was gowned in navy crepe de chine relieved with lemon, and hat and bouquet to tone.
The wedding breakfast was later held at the residence of the bridegroom’s parents in Mount Eden.
