CABLE REPAIRS MADE
WELLINGTON-SYDNEY BREAK RETURN OF IRIS DELAYED A fault In one of the cables between Wellington and Sydney, which developed early in the month, has now been repaired and is in working order. # . According to a wireless message from the Pacific Cable Board’s steamer Iris, which carried out the repairs, rough weather set in immediately tho work was completed and the vessel is standing by until the seas moderate in order that a number of buoys may be recovered. The Iris sailed from Auckland a fortnight ago and during the whole of the interval has been in the vicinity of the fault, which is 260 miles from Wellington. The work was delayed for more than a week owing to the rough weather.
