SURPRISE VISIT
HON. J. B. DONALD CALLS ON TELEGRAPH STAFF BOWLING CUP PRESENTED The telegraph staff at the Chief Post Office received an unconventional visit from the Hon. J. B. Donald. late Postmaster-General, at ten o’clock on Christmas Eve. Accompanied by his two secretaries, Messrs. \\\ R. King and K. Mullins, the Minister, who arrived when the office was at the height of rush ami turmoil, saw 200 operators working at high pressure getting the thousands of Christmas telegrams off to their destinations. The Hon. J. B. Donald was met by tho superintendent of the telegraph room. Mr. EL M. Doull, and his supervisors, and after the season’s greetings wore exchanged, he made u tour of the room, before presenting the J. B. Donald Bowling Cup to the telegraph staff for competition between the senior rinkers. The volume of business made the usual speeches impossible, but a call for cheers was enthusiastically responded to. The Minister, who is relinquishing the Postmaster-Generalship to take over the portfolios of Industries, Commerce, and Customs, has, during his administration, come closely into contact with the mailroom and telegraph staffs.
