SLIGHT DECREASE
DROP IN SHIPPING FOR NOVEMBER NEW LOAN PROPOSAL A slight decrease in th© amount of shipping entering the port during November, compared with the corresponding month last year was reported by the harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant, at yesterday’s meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. Mr. M. H. Wynyard presided. The total gross tonnage was 349,910. The large merchant shiping showed a decrease of six vessels and 3,432 gross tons. The local coastal shipping showed a decrease of 70 vessels, but an increase of 210 gross tons. It was decided to apply to the Bocal Government Loans Board for sanction to rais© a loan of £240,000, with a currency of 30 years, the rate of interest not to exceed 5£ per cent., and the sinking fund to be li per cent. Of th© total, £BO,OOO is required for the new viaduct scheme.
