TAXI-DRIVER ASSAULTED
ASSAILANT FINED £2 From Our Oxen Correspondent WHANGAREI, Tuesday. A plea of guilty was entered by Percy Waddington in the Police Court before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., today, when charged with assaulting a taxidriver, William Middleton. Th© police stated that Middleton had driven accused’s housekeeper to a house. While he was in the car awaiting her return, she came out with Waddington and something in the nature of a scene followed. Waddington seized Middietoh by the waistcoat. breaking his' watch-chain and causing damage to the extent of £l. Accused had nothing to say in excuse, but asked that his name be suppressed. Th© Magistrate: No chance in the xorld. It. was an unprovoked assault. Vou will b© convicted and fined £2 and >rdered to make good the damage, £l.
