ST. CUTHBERT’S COLLEGE! PRIZE-GIVING YESTERDAY’S CEREMONY St. Cuthbert’s College broke up for the year 1929 yesterday afternoon, when the annual prize-giving ceremony was held in the school grounds. Mr. James Robertson, chairman of the board of governors, presided over a large attendance and the prizes were distributed by Mrs. C. Rhodes. The chairman said the necessity for increased assembling accommodation had not been overlooked by the board, but the form the assembly hall would take had not yet been determined. The pupils had already contributed £75 for the purpose as a result of the last school concert. The principal, Miss L. Clouston, said that the primary inspectors had visited the school during the year and reported that the school gave a capital training for girls, and the building, grounds and equipment called for congratulations. An address was given by Professor A. C. Paterson, and after afternoon tea had been served, a display of Swedish dancing and drill was given by the pupils in the grounds in front of the main buildings.
