BATHS FOR MOUNT ALBERT
SWIMMING CENTRE’S REQUEST A deputation from the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association waited on the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening with a request for the provision of swimming facilities in the district. The centre was not concerned with the competitive as much as educational side of swimming, said Mr. J. Enwright. He did not know whether the centre could provide an instructor in the event of the baths being made, but it was doing its best to get baths at the Training College, so that teachers would be able to give the necessary instruction. Mr. A. A. Buckley said it was the council’s intention to provide baths at Gribblehirst Park at an early date. The centre had the support and sympathy of the council, said the Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, and if it was possible to provide baths in the district the council would do so. It was the council’s intention to sing a bore at Gribblehirst Park, as it is believed that there was a large underground stream there.
