FAULTY PLUMBING

ONE TREE HILL DISCOVERY Faulty plumbing was reported by the plumbing inspector to the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening. During September, October and November, plumbing on 22 new jobs and 31 alterations had been examined. Fees amounting to £26 5s had been received by the board, an increase of £8 5s over the previous term. The demands of the board to have all houses connected up to the sewer in the western area had exposed a lot of faulty plumbing work. In all cases the residents had seemed gratified to have the faulty work replaced with proper material. Mr. W. G .Mulholland suggested that the board allow its inspector to attend schools in the district to direct the children on questions relating to safety where traffic was concerned. It was decided to write to the schools to obtain their viewpoints. Protest from several residents that Cornwall Park Avenue was inadequately lighted since a street lamp had been moved to a point opposite Wapiti Avenue was received. The question was referred to the foreman for report. A lengthy report on suggested alterations and amendments to traffic regulations, invited by the Minister of Transport and Commissioner of Transport, was submitted. It was decided to send the inspector’s recommended alterations to the Minister of Transport. During the past fortnight nine building permits to the total value of £4Bl had been issued. This brought the total up to 239 permits issued, valued at £93,985 17s 6d. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs. R. G. Clark, I. J. Goldstine. W. G. Mulholland and the clerk, Mr. A. Leese, for giving evidence before the commission on December 12, in connection with changing One Tree Hill’s status to that of a borough. A donation of £1 3 s to the Local Bodv Labourers’ Association was passed.
