FINAL MEETING FOR SEASON OF ONEHUNGA BRANCH OF W.C.T.U.

The final meeting for the year of the Onehunga branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist schoolroom on Thursday, December 12. Mrs. Leadley, who was in the chair, warmly welcomed the new secretary, Mrs. Craig. A report of the district executive meeting was given, and several suggestions about future work were brought forward. Officers for the coming year are as follow:—• President, Mrs. Leadley; secretary, Mrs. Craig; treasurer, Mrs. Musket: white ribbon agent, Mrs. Ashby; cradle roll superintendent, Mrs. Mount joy; Loyal Temperance Legion, Mrs. Hunter, with Miss Taylor as assistant; Birthday League Super, Miss Kitt; W. R. and Press reporter, Mrs. Stacey. Mesdamcs Lamond and Mountjoy were appointed conveners for afternoon teas. Number of members, 85; number of babies on the cradle roll, 170: Loyal Temperance Legioners, 31; Birthday League subscribers, 13. The treasurer reports a small balance. The business concluded, a social hour was spent with musical items, recitations and competitions. A collection taken realised £3 3s for the W.C.T.U. Orphanage. The union goes into recess till February. ,PT-vqF ENJOYABLE DANCE END OF SEASON CELEBRATED A, most enjoyable dance was held last evening in the Margaret O’Connor Studio to mark the close of the year’s work. The hall was prettily arranged with pink and pale blue streamers, making a delightful setting for the charming frocks. A presentation was made by Miss L. Ballantyne to Miss O’Connor in appreciation of her work. A presentation was also made to Miss Molly Ballantyne, Miss O’Connor’s assistant, by Miss de Marr. Miss O’Connor, in thanking her pupils, spoke of the progress made, and the higher standard of dancing shown. Among those present w'ere: Miss M. O’Connor, who wore blue ring velvet with uneven hemline and diamente buckle; Miss Molly Ballantyne, pink georgette with hip-bow in contrasting colour; Miss O. de Marr, black lace dipping at the back; Miss J. Morris, apple green georgette; Miss Carlton, apricot inarocain with hem of transparent lace; Miss Barry, green and gold taffeta; Miss M. Berkett, pink frilled crepe de chine; Miss L. Ballantyne, ivory georgette studded with rhinestones; Miss Crocker, pink crepe de chine; Miss Myers, blue crepe de chine; Miss Lipscombe, silver lame corsage and white crepe de chine.
