OTAHUHU PUBLIC SCHOOL
ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT The annual prize-night and break-ing-up ceremony of the Otahuhu' Public School will be held in the Orpheus Theatre, Station Road, Otahuhu, on Thursday evening. Chief interest will be centred in the presentation of the Trenwith prizes, which are donated, and will be presented, by Mr. Trenwith, for the general work of the scholars throughout the year. The successful scholars are: Standard Vl.—Boys: Stephen Arlington, l; John Rogers, 2. Girls: Merl Edwards, 1; Jean Patterson, 2. Standard V.—Boys: John Atha, 1; Leslie King. 2. Girls: Florence Stewart, 1; Agnes Patterson, 2. Standard IV.—Boys: Russell Milligan, 1: Arthur Fisher, 2. Girls: Palma Francis. 1; Audrey Downey, 2. Standard III.—Boys: Graham Reid, 1; Robert McSporrum and Stanley Russell (tied), 2. Girls: Jean Marton. 1; Jill Double, 2. Standard II.—Boys: Victor Patrie, 1; Robin Clark, 2. Girls: Ngaire Cowper, 1: Marjorie Giddy, 2. Standard I.—Boys: Ronald Thomas, 1; Teddy Rogers, 2. Girls: Margaret Reid, 1; John Fearnley, 2. The following medals will be presented to the successful competitors at the Auckland Public School championship sports.— Junior half-mile: Athol McManus. Senior high jump: Roger West. Medals will also he presented to Claude Docherty for the best batting average, and Roy Wood for the best bowling average. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. C. R. Petrie, will present the Otahuhu Trotting. Club's shield to the basketball team, winners of the public school competition. During the evening a comprehensive programme of items will be contributed by the pupils and a couple of motion pictures will be included, which will be supplied by Otahuhu Amusements, Limited.
