ENJOYABLE CONCERT
“SUNSHINE GIRLS” ENTERTAIN HAPPY DAY FOR CHILDREN The junior branch of the Auck* land Hospital City Sewing Circle gave a most enjoyable concert to the children in the hospital on Saturday last, splendid programme being given by the “Sunshine Girls” of the Hospital Auxiliary. The chairman of the Hospital Board, Mr. Wallace, and Mrs. A. Kidd, president of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, Were present. Great credit is due to Mrs. Phillips for her arrangement of the programme which was contributed to by Joyce Edwards, Frances Grant. Joan Moody, Jean Johnston, Frances Phillipps, Ruby Hard ley, Freda Jaffe, Grace Archer and Joyce Furness. Mrs. Phillipps and the Misses Lyall were aceompanistes. A-n item of outstanding merit was “The Wedding of the Painted Roll,” the soloist being Joan Moody, and the danseuse Frances Phillij/ps and company. After the concert presents and a carton of sweets were given by the junior branch to child patients, more than 60U presents being distributed. Each child also received a small gift from Master John Nutter, the boys of 12 to 1G years receiving a tin of toffee from Mr. lan Scott. Tho children in the fever wards were not forgotten, as the Cave 11 Brownies, St. Mark’s Brownies and Belmont Brownies sent presents to the girls, the Boy Scouts doing the same for the boys. The hearty clapping and happy faces of the little patients went far to prove the splendid success of the afternoop. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss Calder, who was responsible for the movement. A delightful little episode was the surprise afternoon tea given to the guests by the 'sister and nurses.
