PROLONGED EARTHQUAKE
SHOCK AT CHRISTCHURCH
Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today
An earthquake which lasted for more than a minute was registered at the Christchurch Observatory' at 5.5 a.m. yesterday. The movement, though prolonged, was gentle, and few people in the city noticed it. Its origin has not yet been established, but it is probably at Arthur’s Pass or on the West Coast.
