In the Market Place

APPLES VERY SCARCE STRAWBERRIES PLENTIFUL The decreasing supplies of apples in the City Marts has been responsible for a keen inquiry for several weeks. Apples are now very scarce, and there seems no likelihood of fresh quantities before Christmas. Strawberries are corning forward in larger quantities, and many excellent lines are offering. A few lots oC peaches are selling. Australian cherries and apricots arrived in time for the later sales today. Hothouse tomatoes show a further improvement in value. Firm shipping lines are realising the best price. Fairly large quantities of plums are coming forward. There is a good inquiry. Repacked bananas arc scarce. New potatoes, green peas and cabbages are very heavily supplied in the vegetable market. Quotations: FRUIT Apples.—New Zealand: Stunners, 11s to 14s.
