FAT LAMBS FOR EXPORT

RECORD WAIKATO DRAFT From Our Oxen Correspondent CAMBRIDGE, Today. There was a busy scene at the Cambridge railway station yesterday when 2,500 fat lambs were trucked for Auckland in a special train of 32 trucks. This is the first batch of a total consignment of 1,000 Southdown lambs purchased by Messrs. Fletcher and Co. from Mr. W. Vosper and sons, whose four farms are situated in the Cambridge, Hinuera and Matamata districts. The total purchase comprises the biggest consignment of fat lambs to ever leave the Waikato, 2,500 being trucked f/om Hinuera and Matamata today and tomorrow, while the balance of 2,000 will be sent to Auckland in January. The sale was effected by Mr. William Vosper, the well-known sheepbreeder of “Dingley Dell,” Cambridge, on behalf of himself and sons, and was made at a very satisfactory figure compared with late rates. The lambs trucked yesterday were a magnificent lot, averaging around forty pounds dressed weight.
