PARTY-FUNDS LAWSUIT

CONSERVATIVE CHAIRMAN AS DEFENDANT HUGE SUM CLAIMED * LONDON, Friday. The “Daily Mail” discloses that the defendant in a pending political lawsuit is Mr. J. C. C. Davidson, chairman of the Conservative Party. The plaintiff claims the return of a large sum, running into tens of thousands of pounds, which lie alleges he handed over to the Conservative Party funds. The writ was issued some time ago, but the action was kept a profound secret. The defendant is resisting the claim. The case is not likely to come before the court for several months. Mr. John Colin Campbell Davidson has been chairman of the Conservative Party since 1917. He is member of the House of Commons for Hemel Hempstead. Herts. He was from 1910 to 1923 Parliamentary Secretary to various Cabinet Ministers, and was Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, 1923-24.
