AGED DRIVER FINED

COLLISION WITH CYCLIST NO ATTEMPT TO STOP From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. A peculiar accident occurred recently, when Mr. Thomas Shaw, 70, a farmer of Tauwhare, collided with a cyclist in Victoria Street and pushed both machine and rider a distance of 65 feet before the car stalled. When Shaw was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with dangerous driving, the traffic inspector said defendant made no effort to stop the car. Fortunately the cyclist was uninjured. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., expressed the view that defendant’s advancing years so impaired his faculties that he could not act promptly. Therefore, he would make the fine light. Defendant was fined 20s and costs and his licence was suspended till May 30.
