WELCOME TO CYCLIST AT WELLINGTON AN UNUSUAL INCIDENT Special to THE SUN WELLINGTON, Today. The curious sight of one amateur athletic being the only person to welcome a world-famous professional has just been witnessed in Wellington. The amateur was Mr. G. S. Bright, a member of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, and the professional was Hubert Opperman, world’s champion cyclist. Opperman, who is visiting New Zealand under arrangement with a Christchurch promoter, is to lecture to amateur cyclists and show slides and films of the famous Tour de France' in which he finished first among the Australian and New Zealand team in 1928. He holds the 100 miles motor-paced record of the world and many minor records.
