OTIRA TUNNEL RECORD
6,125 TONS IN 39 HOURS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Coal, timber and general merchandise totalling 6,125 tons were brought through the Otira Tunnel in 39 hours between Wednesday afternoon and early this morning, making a new record for the tunnel. It was designed to handle 1,000 tons daily, but during the past year the average lias been over 2,000 daily.
