FIRE DESTROYS TWO HOUSES

Press Association WELLINGTON, Friday. large wooden houses and their contents in Victoria Street. Petone, 'Wellington, were totally destroyed by fire at 11.30 p.m. on Thursday. A blustering wind was blowing, and to this being added a shockingly poor water pressure, the brigade had an exceedingly difficult task to stop the further spread of the flames, the fight continuing for three hours. The house of the origin of the fire, which was occupied by Mrs. Patrick Quinn and her family, was insured for £l5O in the Royal Exchange Office and £350 in the State Office. The other was owned by Mrs. King and was occupied by her and Mrs. and Mr. Archer and their family. It was insured for £SOO in the State Office. The Quinns’ furniture was insured for £490 in the .London and Lancashire Olficc.
