RACING ON CINDERS
MEETING AT WESTERN SPRINGS
TRACK WILL BE FASTER Nineteen events are set down for decision at the cinder track meeting at the Western Springs Stadium tomorrow' evening. The Wellington team will not be appearing, but another Australian rider, Jack Reek, and Percy Coleman, the grass track champion, will be seen in action. Chief interest will undoubtedly centre on the “Big Twelve’’ handicap, a four-heat event lor the 12 fastest riders of the night. There will also be another match race between A. Mann and S. Perkins, the Australian speedsters. Better arrangements have been made regarding the announcing of heats and winners, and more distinctive colours selected. Red, blue and gold will be used as before, but the white pull-over will bear a large black star, preventing confusion with gold. The programmes, too, will be informative and easy to follow'. A large portion of the cinders has been removed, making the track considerably faster if not so safe for novice riders. Lighting and* "the loud-speaking system has also received attention.
