BULL ATTACKS HORSEMAN
RIDER THROWN OFF Press Association TE AWAMUTU, Today. A -well-known Pirongia farmer, Thomas Steel, when driving a young Jersey bull into the paddock yesterday, was savagely attacked by it and knocked off his horse. The latter was severely gored while Mr, Steel scrambled under a hedge. A lorry-driver, nami’d Mour.sey. heard Mr. Steel’s cries and drove his lorry at the bull, diverting its attention while Steel escaped through the hedge.
The horse was badly gored, necessitating 17 stitches. The rider escaped with bruises.
