SHORE AGAIN

SUCCESS IN INTER-CLUB ROWING

SCHMIDT TROPHY RACES Again winning decisively, North Shore scored its second success in inter-club rowing events this season by winning the Schmidt jubilee trophies on Saturday. Stroked by Dean, the winning crew romped home in the final and Shore maintained its record for the season so far. Five clubs took part in the racing, which was conducted by the Auckland Rowing Club. Each club competing rowed a set of trial lours as a preliminary, the finalists of each club meeting in the main race of the afternoon for the trophies. The trophies, four large framed photographs of the full-rigged ship lima, were presented to the Auckland club by Mr. 11. Schmidt, commodore, to mark the club's jubilee year. West End rowed in borrowed boats, being unable to row round from St. Mary’s Bay. Shore’s men brought their boats over on the vehicular ferry.
