PAINTING KING’S CHARGER

“ANZAC” POSES FOR PICTURE

A picture of the King saluting the old colours of the First Lifeguards, on the occasion of the presentation of the new colours when the First and Second Lifeguards were amalgamated, is being painted by Mr. A. J. Mannings for the officers of the regiment. Anzac, the King’s favourite charger,' is a model for the horse in the picture, says the “Daily Chronicle.” Mr. Mannings has been visiting the Royal Mews and painting Anzac both in the stable and in the courtyard. The king’s favourite has proved a docile model. While being painted the horse has worn the full trappings of a field-marshal’s charger. After a number of sittings, the picture of the horse is almost finished, and, when the whole composition is completed, will be hung in the mess of the First Lifeguards. •
