“TO ENNOBLE SERVICE”
SCOUT MOVEMENT IN N.Z. COMMISSIONER RESIGNS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. “The Scout movement is neither pacifist nor militarist, but is a great movement seeking to ennoble service by teaching boys to honour and be faithful to their God, their King and their country and their country’s laws, and if we do something in this direction I think you will agree that it is a movement worthy of our time.” This statement was made by the chairman, Captain J. H. Kirk, of Gisborne, at the annual meeting of the Dominion Council of the Boy Scouts Association this morning after a civic welcome by the Mayor of Christchurch. Brigadier General A. W. Andrew, who has been Honorary Dominion Chief Commissioner of Boy Scouts for seven years, resigned this position at the meeting, stating he considered a younger man should take up the work.
