Univei'sity College i Function ANNUAL DANCE HELD 1 The linal dance for the year was ! held by tne students in the University j Hall last evening, the occasion being j one of great gaiety and brilliance. : Some charming frocks were noticed, | their colourful beauty being enhanced j by the special lighting and wonderful J stage background, which was a glow of gulden lilugree work with hanging i baskets of roses and fern and masses |of foliage in tall gilded baskets. Tills was arranged by Aliss R. Walker. The supper room was attractively decorated with multi-coloured streamj ers and bowls of roses in shades of | red and white upon the tables, tall j | vases of pink Shirley poppies being i ! placed at intervals round the walls, j Excellent music was provided by Air. 1 | Walter Smith's Orchestra. ' The committee responsible for the j dance was as follows: Miss R. Walker, who wore a frock, i of lettuce green crepe de chine, with • a deep hem of black georgette, j Aliss C. Fotheringham was in pink j georgette, with a skirt of frilled pastel | lace. Aliss J2>. Afulgan wore a pretty frock ; of deep peach satin. Aliss 11. West was wearing mauve | georgette and silver. j Aliss O. Lloyd had chosen a smart , frock of unrelieved black satin. AMONG THOSE PRESENT | Airs. I-lugh Corbin wore a frock of aprij cot georgette• with silver beaded design, j Airs. Bartrum was wearing old rose laf- | feta and lace. i Airs. Bowell was in unrelieved black i georgette. j Airs. Penniket was wearing an ankle length frock of green ring velvet and ! tulle. Aliss Aliller wore black ring velvet and j diamente. Aliss Bourne was frocked in black tafi feta. Aliss K. ATolloy wore a delightful period frock in green and gold. Aliss P. Miller had on a flounced frock of black georgette. Aliss AI. Alilne chose dainty ivory chiffon with skirt of frills and large bow of pink taffeta. Aliss Al. Guise was in powder blue frilled georgette. ; Aliss itayc Murphy was frocked in apricot georgette with silver beaded design. Aliss Eileen Adkins had chosen black 1 taffeta with a jade green shoulder posy. ■ Aliss Y. Knell favoured blush rose pink > satin. Aliss Hazel Hardley wore an ankle- : length frock of lemon satin and cherry 5 velvet. Aliss K. Crookes was frocked in shell pink georgette with blue embroidered shawl. ; A pretty frock of shot green taffeta was chosen by Aliss Doreen Kallagher. Miss Winifred Far re n wore floral crepe i de chine and gold lace. Aliss Peggy Ford was in lacquer red ring velvet. Aliss Nancy Whyte had on a charming ■ floral crepe de chine frock with crepe effect. ; Aliss Moira Blythe was in pintucked crepe de chine in blush pink shade. | An ankle-length frock of hedge green satin was worn by Aliss Peggy Blythe. Aliss June Day was wearing an ivory t satin and tulle period frock, with rose- : bud trimming. Miss Diana D’Esterre wore a chic frock . of ivory taffeta, with large scarlet shoul- ’ dor posy. t Aliss Roma Brewer had chosen absinthe 1 green embossed satin. t Aliss J. Chambers was in cameo pink tulle, with ankle-length skirt of frills. Airs. T. Harie Giles favoured delphinium blue georgette, with ankle-length skirt. 2 Aliss Peggy Davidson wore lettuce t. green georgette. t Green lace over satin of deeper shade 1 was chosen by Aliss J. Scott. Aliss AT. Howell was in duck-egg blue , satin, with palest pink liem and pink embroidery. ’ Aliss Freda Souter chose a white lace 1 frock. Guise was wearing an anklelength frock of jade georgette. A frock of ecru lace over pink was worn by Aliss Pat Barry.
Miss Z. Lloyd was in black georgette with Spanish shawl. Miss N. Whitelaw wore betty blue satin with a wrap of shrimp embossed velvet. Miss N. Callaher wore powder blue georgette with silver embossed corsage. Miss Mavis Stokes was in ivory floral satin and net. Miss l't. Parkinson wore nil georgette j with handkerchief points and posy. Miss Lolly Reed was wearing daffodil | frilled georgette, ankle-length. Miss N. Walter chose forest green satin, with a long) skirt of georgette. Miss Shirley Fra ter was in mauve taffeta and silver. Miss June Fee wore nile green taffeta. Miss A. Lambourne wore black satin corsage and bouffant tulle skirt. -Miss L. Court chose jade tulle and lace. Miss Gadsby was in hedge green satin. Black ling velvet was chosen by Miss Coleman, a posy of crimson roses adding the final touch. Miss L. Jones was in betty blue crepe do chine, with diamante dimming. Miss E. Coleman wore mauve velvet, with flared taffeta skirt. -Miss Z. Garry’s frock was of turquoise taffeta and lace. A cameo crepe de chine frock was chosen by Miss W. Whitehead. Miss Kathleen Stokes was in floral crepe de chine.
Miss Sylvia Beale was wearing scarlet • tulle, with bouffant skirt and diamante j buckle. Miss Marie Hobson was in pink and j black taffeta. Miss P. Keeper chose briar rose taffeta ! relieved with silver. Miss L. Cleland wore cherry ring velvet. with posy to tone. Miss Beryl Buckley chose cherry taffeta, j with frilled skirt and beige tulle hem. Miss Vu 1 Peacock wore silver lame j and shell pink. Miss Joyce Porter was wearing sea green georgette and rainbow tulle. i _
