MINISTER SEEKS SUPPORT OF POLICE FILES VERIFICATION OF STATEMENT Press Association W'ELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Minister of Justice, the Hon. T. M. Wilford, is not yet in a position to reply fully to the statements made j in connection with the Elsie Walker ■ mystery by Mr. O. Cooney, of Te j Puke, solicitor for Mrs, Margaret | Thomason. Replying to an inquiry, the Minis- i ter said he had forwarded to the i Commissioner of Police the statement j made last week by Mr. Cooney, and j had. asked for a reply to it as to cer- j tain excerpts from the file, since those extracts had been supplied by the i police, typed and ready for insertion 1 in the statement Mr. Wilford made i to the House. “As soon as I receive ; the police comment on Mr. Cooney’s i statement as to those extracts, I will be glad to give it to the Press,” the Minister added.
