WITH A TAG, HOWEVER The Devonport Borough Council last night unanimously adopted a resokition, moved by the Mayor, Mr. K. Aldridge, that the Hon. T. M. Wilfqrd, Minister of Justice and Defence, be congratulated on his appointment as High Commissioner. Jt was added, however, that he be j respectfully urged to finalise, before he leaves New Zealand, the negotiations now pending between Devonport and the Cabinet concerning the payment of £SOO to the borough, in lieu of the non-payment of rates on the large portions of the borough now used for defence purposes, j Mr. F. J. H. Ellisdon: We had better ! lose no time in sending on the resolui tion.
