ALBANY POWER
EXTENSION NOW PAYING MARKED IMPROVEMENT SHOWN The capital cost of the GlenfieldAlbany extension is £5,225. This was stated by Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman of the Waitemata Electric Power Board, at a public meeting at Albany last evening. The revenue required for the line to be self-supporting, on a basis of 17£ per cent., was £914, and that revenue guaranteed when a canvass was made was £950. The actual consumption at March 31, 1929, was £605, leaving a deficiency of £353, against guarantees. The position had since greatly improved and the extension had been self-supporting for the past six months. If it. continued there would be no need to call up further guarantees after March 31 next and then the consumers would pay for actual consumption only. The improved position had been brought about by 25 new consumers and that 42 of the original guarantors were now using more than the amount of the original guarantee.
