LEVEL CROSSING DANGER
S.M’S COMMENT ON STOP NOTICES CHRISTCHURCH CASE Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The magistrate, Mr. E. C. Levvey, dismissed a. charge against Herbert Bertram Veitcli, of failing to observe a compulsory stop notice at the Harewood Road railway crossing. Mr. J. S. Hawkes, secretary of the Automcoile Association, said he did not think the Railway Department had given much thought to the question of the placing of notices. These were not necessary at certain places, including Harewood Road. The magistrate said he had inspected a number of crossings and did not think stop notices were being placed to the best of public advantage. The best way to bring the matter under tho notice of the Railway Department was to dismiss the case.
