WATER MAIN BURSTS

RESERVOIR EMPTIED LOSS AT PAPATOETOE Owing to the bursting of the principal water main of the Papatoetoe water supply at Puliinui Road on Monday evening, the reservoir on AlcLaughlan’s Hill was emptied, and over 130.000 gallons of water was lost. The clerk of works reported at last evening’s meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board that the support of the main, which was exposed at this point, had been washed away by re- i cent rains, and the main had burst at the joints, allowing the water to ; flow into the Puhinui Stream. The discovery was made by the turncock, when he commenced duties yesterday morning. He reported to the clerk of works that the reservoir was empty, and the break was discovered. The water scheme is not yet in use, so no inconvenience was caused to residents.
