FLOUNCED FROCK DIPS TO BRIDE’S ANKLES AT BACK
COOPER—SAINTY A pretty wedding took place on Tuesday evening at St. David’s Church, when Miss Gladys Ma.y Sainty, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sainty, of Glen Road, Stanley Bay, was married to Mr. William Gordon Cooper, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper, of Manukau Road, Epsom. The Rev. J. H. Thompson was the officiating clergyman. Given away by her father, the bride looked charming in a frock of delicate shell pink satin charmeuse, with a tight-fitting bodice and long sleeves. The skirt consisted of flared flounces worn ankle-length at the back, and caught at the waistline with a diamente buckle. The train-length veil was of ivory tulle edged with lace and embroidered at the end with a lover’s knot in pink and silver, and was held in place with silver ribbon and clusters of orange blossom. A shower bouquet of pink flowers was carried. The two bridesmaids in attendance were Miss Izola St. Clare and Miss Margaret Beale. They were frocked ill ike in pale primrose georgette, with tight-fitting bodices and skirts of slanting flared frills. Swathings of georgette fastened with gold buckles formed the waistline. Their hats were of fawn-coloured straw with primrose satin swathings, and they carried bouquets of yellow and cream Iceland poppies. Little Molly Mather, in a smocked
frock of shell pink satin charmeuse embroidered in pastel shades, was flower girl. Her posy was of blue flowers. Air. Charles Read attended the bridegroom as best man, Mr. Stanley Sainty acting as groomsman. Airs. Sainty was wearing mole silk marocain, with fox furs, and a small brown bat with flowers of toning shade. Her bouquet was composed of autumntinted flowers. Airs. Cooper, mother of the bridegroom, wore black knifepleated marocain relieved with capucine georgette vest. Her hat was of black bangkok straw trimmed with silver, and a bouquet of crimson flowers was carried.
HAMILTON WEDDING CLIFTON—NAIRN A quiet wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Dean Barnett at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, in the evening of October 14, when Alaisie, only daughter of Air. and Airs. A. C. Nairn, of Hamilton, became the bride of Leslie, elder son of Airs, and the late Air. John Clifton, of London, England. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of white satin and silver lace. Her veil of embroidered ivory tulle was arranged with clusters of orange blossom and she carried a shower bouquet of roses and spring flowers.
