CATHEDRAL WEDDING

LACE AND TULLE FROCK SHANNON—THOMSON An interesting wedding was celebrated on Thursday afternoon at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, when Eileen, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Thomson, of Mount Eden, was married i to Mr. David Shannon, of Auckland. I The Rev. Dr. Buxton performed the ! ceremony. Mr. Harry Pliscocks presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by lier brother. Mr. Mark Thomson, wore a frock with a fitting corsage of silver lace and skirt of ankle length ivory tulle with narrow frills reaching from the waist, and a -wide inlet of silver lace to match the corsage. A diamente buckle held the side drapery. Her veil of embroidered brussels net was edged with silver lace and worked in the corners with true lovers’ knots. It was held in jdace with clusters of orange blossom. A shower bouquet of orchids was carried. In attendance on the bride -were her two sisters, Margaret and Esma, who were frocked in green and cyclamen respectively. Both were of ankle ‘ength taffeta with deep gold lace hems, and velvet lovers’ knots and sprays of rosebuds as trimmings. Their hats were of gold lace, and they carried shower bouquets to tone with their frocks. Little Delma DaiTey, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl, her frock of ankle length mauve satin and tulle with satin ruffles at waist, making an early Victorian picture completed with the bonnet of satin and rosebuds. Mr. L. Thompson was best man. Mr. H. Donaldson acting as groomsman. The bride’s mother was wearing a frock of black satin with uneven hem, and black hat.

Later a reception was held at the Titirangi Kiosk, where about 80 guests were entertained.
