Ladies’ Hockey Club Entertains PAPATOETOE FUNCTION The Renown Hall, Papatoetoe, was the scene of a gay and successful function on Friday evening, when the Papatoetoe Ladies’ Hockey Club held an enjoyable dance and presentation of pnzes. A delightful programme of dance numbers was played by Morrow’s Orchestra, and Miss Ivy Smydieman contributed several pleasing extras. The duties of master of ceremonies were carried out by Mr. J. B. Nicholson. During the evening Mr. D. Wellington, president of the club, presented the captain with trophies won by the team during the season, as follow: Carnival Cup (seven-a-side turney), held conjointly with Mount Eden for 1925, won outright 1929; Junior Championship Cup, held conjointlv with Mount Eden during 1928, won outright tor 19*. 9; Bernacher Cup, knock-out championship, won outright for 1929. Championship badges were presented to Misses V. O’Hara, captain, L. Kingstord, L. Roseveare, M. Baird, E. Snellmg, E. Mayall, T. Richards, P. Duncan, Culpan, M. Gubb and D. Leighton After congratulating the club on the splendid record for the past season the president proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Miss V. O’Hara, captain. Miss E. Snelling, vice-captain, and Miss Mavis Gubb, secretary, for services to the club during the season. Among those present were: Mrs. \V. Johnson, who wore lichen green georgette, with trimmings of silmvlVo 1 *7* arke , r » black georgette with inlets of lace, and shawl; Miss It. Wallace, blush rose beaded georgette, with Miss Ivy Smytheman, sunset satin beaute, finished with shoulder posy; Miss G. Fitness, ivory georgette, leaturmg an uneven hemline, and shoulder posy to tone; Miss Nellie Morey, black panne velvet with ivory reliefs; Miss Mary Richards, jade green satin beaute, finished with lemon posy; Miss Phyl’is Duncan, canary georgette flounced frock; Miss Margaret Baird, royal blue ring velvet with shawl of green; Miss Mae Whitten, vieux rose georgette over crepe de chine; Miss X. Snelling, frock of unrelieved lavender georgette; Miss E. Snelling, emerald green georgette frock and carmine shawl; Miss Maire Weeks frock of wistaria taffeta and black shawl! Miss B. A. Bell was in a frock of flesh Pink tulle and georgette, with shawl to tone; Miss Rene Wotherspoon, ciel blue satin, with ankle-length skirt of silk net; Miss Mary Dreadon, frock of pink frilled taffeta and georgette; ankle-length skirt; Miss 31. Finlay, art blue georgette frock with handkerchief skirt and finished with silver trimmings; Miss G. Holmes, frock of silver tissue, with crepe de chine flares; Miss L. Cryer, fi*ock of apricot taffeta, with posy to tone; Miss E. Mellroy, frock of black satin carreau, with floral corsage; Miss L. Robinson, almond green georgette frock, with uneven hem; Miss Gladys McCauley, ashes of roses taffeta de luxe, with overskirt of silver lace; Miss I. Holmes, nile green crepe romaine frock with trimmings of old gold. Miss Ryburn chose moss rose taffeta frock, with shawl to tone; Miss P. Brown, frock of wistaria crepe de chine. with flounces of silver lace; Miss L. Kingsford, frock of peach taffeta and tulle to tone: Miss Edith Mayall, azure blue crepe de chine frock, with tiered skirt; Miss Alisa Whyte, frock of sunset panne velvet, with an overskirt of silk net, and dainty shoulder posy; Miss Audrey Fitness, ankle-length frock of shell pink georgette, and shawl to tone; Miss Bonnie Baird, frock of hyacinth crepe charmeuse; Miss Jean Ryburn. frock of black crepe de chine with touches of pink.
