Philistines’ Bright Revel

ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME HAPPY EVENING IN OPERATIC SOCIETY’S HALL Another most enjoyable evening was given by the Philistines in the Operatic Society's Hall on Saturday, when a iarge number of members and friends attended. rjnElE hail was decorated with long streamers of blue and gold, which hung from the electroliers, the stage being gay with masses of golden marigolds and iceland poppies. Tho chairman for the evening was Mrs. B. E. Bird, who was introduced by Mr. V. Gillespie in a brief and appropriate speech. In addition to the excellent dance music supplied by the llitz Orchestra a delightful programme of musical and other items was provided, those contributing being Miss Linda Murphy, elocutionary numbers; Mr. It. Richards, baritone solo; Miss Nina Scott and Mr. Frank Martin, in, a talkie item; Mr. Eric Waters, musical recital; crystal-gazing by Mr. and Mrs. G. To Her ton; Mr. Tollerton and Mr. Bird in a card exhibition; and a charming original sketch produced by Mr. F. McCallum, those taking part being Mrs. Simpson, Messrs. Charles Prime and Keith Angus. The entire programme was enthusiastically received Among those present were: Mrs. B. E.
