SPEEDWAY RACING
FIRST MEETING TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 23 PROGRAMME ANNOUNCED After visiting the Mangere Speedway yesterday morning and commenting very favourably on the work carried out under the direction of Mr. George Henning, the directors of the Auckland Automobile Racing Club, Ltd., held a meeting last evening. Mr. S. G. Farrell presided. After deciding that the date for the first carnival of the coming season be November 23, and not November 30, as was previously announced, tho meeting spent the rest of the evening mapping out the programme, which has been much improved on those of last season. Th ? following events for the first meeting were decided: 1-—Eight-lap handicap for stripped and \ l l‘ lng approximately 10 miles. (Ssec. limit a lap). —Five-lap Mangere Handicap, for 6i ri mlfe« an<l racing cars ’» approximately 3-—One-lap championship, for stripped and racing cars; 1* miles. . 4 : —Five-lap light car handicap, for stripped and racing cars at nine horsepower and under; approximately six —Three-lap consolation race, for stripped and racing cars; approximately four miles. .6- —Three-lap touring car race for cars nine horse-power and under; approximately four miles. —Four-lap touring car race for cars r . n * ne llorse ~ r>ovver ’ approximately five B.—Three-lap motor-cycle; approximately four miles. .9. —Five-lap motor-cycle; approximately Tho prize money for the various events was not decided, but will probably be announced after the next meeting of the directors of the club, which is to be held next Tuesday
