! YOUNG HOSTESS WEARS GREY AND RED Miss Phyllis Cadman entertained k a number of her young friends at a morning tea party in the Tudor room today. Vivid red anemones were arranged on the table, and the young’ hostess •vvas wearing a pretty figured crepe de chine gown of french grey and saracen red, with red felt hat. 1-ler guests were Miss Ruth Watson, Miss Pete Gorrie, Miss Kath Laidlaw, Miss Margaret Thompson, Miss Joyce Miles, Miss Nancy Rogerson, Miss .Nancy Dawson, Miss Margaret Free, Miss Jean Chandler, Miss Betty Stewart, Miss Gwen Ross, Miss Ina Stewart, Miss Betty Seabrook and Miss Melva Basket. WOMEN’S INSTITUTES NEW LYNN BRANCH An enjoyable afternoon was spent in the Foresters’ Hall on Monday, when the New Lynn branch of the Women’s Institute held its second monthly meeting. Mrs. Houson presided. The business of the month having been discussed, a programme of musical and vocal items was given, which was much appreciated. Those contributing were: —Mrs. Way-good, Mrs. Calder and Mrs. Reich. ~_A " interesting address on “Kipling's YV was given by Mrs. Senior, and Miss Ellis, of Henderson, demonstrated lamp-shade and paper flower making to an interested audience. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Davidson. MATAKANA The monthly meeting of the Matakana Women’s Institute was held recently in the Public Hall. The president, Mrs. Melville, was in the chair. A humorous reading was given by Mrs. Melville, followed by impromptu speeches by the members. A competition caused great amusement. Afternoon tea was handed round by the hostesses, Mrs. R. Jones, Mrs. E. Jones, Mrs. J. Mathews and Miss D. illiams. WAINGAROA The monthly meeting of the Waingaro Women’s Institute was held at Mrs. Barter's home, Waingaro, Mrs. Picken presiding. A discussion on a book which had been passed round for reading among the members was led by Mrs. Coleman, and a demonstration of rope hearth brush-making was given by Mrs. Parsons. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Barter and Mrs. Coleman. ; TUAK^U The monthly meeting of the Tuakau YY omen's Institute was held recently, Mrs. F. Parker presiding.
