SMASHED GLASS DOOR
MAN ARRESTED AT BACK OF FACTORY POLICE SEEK REMAND The police had little difficulty in detaining an alleged wrongdoer last evening. At about 8 o clock the sound of falling glass attracted the attention of Mrs. Ferguson, whose premises look out on the rear of Trenwith Brothers, boot and shoe manufacturers, Wakefield Street. She saw someone trying to break into the premises, so she sent her daughter down to inform a constable who was standing at the foot of the street, about 100yds away. The constable hurried along and took the man in charge. The only damage which was done was a broken panel in the glass of the back door. Leonard William Sharp was remanded at the Police Court this morning on a charge of attempting to break and enter the premises of Trenwith Bros. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that the man had been arrested only last evening, and asked for a remand until October 10 in order to make further inquiries.
