COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

GAY ONEHUNGA FUNCTION Pa.rty was held In the Friendly society’s Hall, Oneliunga, on Saturday evening, to celebrate the coining of age of Miss Fthel Backhurst, about 100 guests being entertained. T-he hall was prettily decorated for the occasion.

Airs. Backhurst received the guests gowned in beige crepe de chine and lace; Aliss Ethel Backhurst’s frock was ivory crepe de chine, with overdress of georgette and silver lace.. Brown, blue embroidered crepe de chine and shawl; Miss D. Hoteliin, pale pink satin, tulle-frilled skirt, and ivory shawl; Aliss IT Townley, ivory georgette and satin, with shawl to tone; Aliss R. Webb, green taffeta and cream hand-painted shawl; Aliss Kathleen Couch, vieux rose creoe de chine, and silver lace, Spanish shawl; Aliss Ella. SURPRISE PARTY MERRY EVENING AT KEREPEEHI Practically every resident of the Iverepeehi district took .part last Friday evening in a surprise party to Air. and Airs. J. Alurdock. It was organised by Ales dames P. Pearson and W. Parsons to enable a presentation of a silver afternoon tea service to be made, in order to mark the appreciation of the people of the district to Air. and Airs. Alurdock for making their house available for social functions and meetings during the time, following the burning of the Iverepeehi Hall, when there was no other suitable place. During the evening the guests entertained themselves with cards, games and music. Songs were contributed by Alesdames Boswell, Reddy, Swabv and Stancell and the Rev. I). Aladdison. recitations by Alessrs. PI. Hoff and G. Barnbrook, and pianoforte solos by Airs. Elliott.
