MORE CITY BUILDINGS
INCREASE IN VALUE FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS A large Increase in the value of building permits issued by the City Council for the first nine months of the year is shown over that of 1925. The estimated cost of structures and alterations is £1,213,917, as compared with £1,037.306 last year. During September the value of permits issued was £131,072, an increase of £24,140 over the same month of 1928. Included in this total were additions and alterations to the T. and G. Mutual Assurance building in 'Wellesley Street taken over recently from Archibald Clark and Sons, estimated at £31,000. A permit issued for the construction of the Masonic Temple in St. Benedict’s Street accounted for £22,100, and a block of 14 flats in Xewton Road for £6,995. The table of comparison of the value of permits issued during the first nine months of 1928 and 1929 is as follows:—•
