It is understood that there is likelihood of a bowling club being started at Tapu. The formation of such a club would materially help to popularise one of Thames’s most popular seaside resorts. An outcrop of coal has been discovered on a farm at Tapu (Thames Coast). Whether there is a large deposit has not been ascertained, bpt the coal is a good quality suitable fpr household use.

The urgent need of metal has caused the Thames Borough Council to reopen its quarry during the summer months. A lengthy meeting of the council on Monday evening decided on the above course. The actual cost of the metal delivered on the roads will be about 9s a yard.
