“YOU SPLENDID FAILURE!”
CLERIC’S FAREWELL TO MR. BRUCE STORMY HOBART MEETING Reed. 10 a.m. HOBART, Today. The election meeting of the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Bruce, at the City Hall last evening ended in dramatic fashion. When questions were invited, a man in clerical garb stood up in the front of the hall and demanded to be allowed to address the meeting from the platform. “I am Father Graham,” he shouted to the crowd. When his request was refused, ho called for cheers for Mr. J. 11. Scuilin, Leader of the Federal Labour Party, and then shouted to Mr. Bruce, “Goodbye, you splendid failure!” and strode theatrically from the hall. The meeting concluded with hooting and counter-cheers.
