FELL OUT OF PLANE

SOLDIER SAVED BY PARACHUTE 2.000 FT DROP (United Service) PANAMA, Saturday. Private Daniel Smith, of the U.S. Army Service Division, and a wireless operator, Deuter, were together in the rear seat of a bombing aiplane 2,000 feet above Gatun Lake when Smith stumbled and fell through the bombing compartment. He clutched the tape of a parachute on which Deuter was sitting, and drew* Deuter’s parachute with him. Smith pulled the rip-cord of his own parachute and landed safely. The pilot and two observers continued tho flight, unaware of the accident.
