HOCKEY NEARING END
KENT CUP MATCHES The Auckland Hockey Association’s club competitions having now been concluded there remain only the Kent Cup matches before the season ends. The cup will necessitate two matches on this occasion. Somerville and St. Luke’s having drawn for the Davis Cup, will have to play off and the winner will be matched with the runner-up Mt. Eden tomorrow week. Thus the season will end on September 28. Somerville has held the trophy for the past seven years and although the team has not been able to sustain its earlier form of late every effort will be made to field a strong eleven against St. Luke’s. This team has been playing very good hockey of late and Som- i erville will have to fight all it knows to retain the cup. In the junior grades the challenge cup knock-out competitions will bo continued. Both grades of ladies’ teams will also be engaged in knockout competitions.
