CHATHAM CUP PROTEST Further information concerning the j Wellington Y.M.C.A. Club's protest j against the playing of Christie (Trams) j in the Chatham Cup competition was I received at last night’s’ meeting of the i Control Board of the Auckland Foot- ! ball Association from the New Zealand ; Council. The Wellington Club’s pro- j test was on the ground that Christie j was a suspended Scottish player. The j 1 New Zealand Council stated that it | had gone into the matter very thor- ! | oughlv, and had cabled the Scottish j i F.A. on the subject, but no evidence j \ could be found to suppoit the allegaj tion. The protest had accordingly been dismissed, and the Wellington I Y.M.C.A.’s appeal fee had been for- ! feited. | The judicial committee objected to ; a recommendation from the Control i Board not to allow players ordered off in matches to cast reflection on the rulings of the referees in question. It was resolved to discuss the matter with the judicial committee at the next meeting. Permission was granted to the Post and Telegraph Department to play a match at Blandford Park tomorrow. It was decided to play a match between a team from the Northumberland and Rangers, at the Domain on Saturday, commencing at two o’clock. A special general meeting will be held on October 29 to deal with the revision of certain rules.
