SPEEDING UP TRAINS CHANGES FROM MONDAY On Monday several alterations will be made to trains running in the Auckland Province. The department is slowly but surely speeding up its trains. Such alterations must, of necessity, be done carefully, as any change in the time of running one train involves changes in many others. Travelling time between Auckland and Frankton Junction is to be reduced by 42 minutes from Monday to Friday on the 4 p.m. train and by 36 minutes on the Saturday train. The changes will also allow better connections to be made with the principal expresses. The 4 p.m. train from Auckland to Frankton (Mondays to Fridays) will leave at 4.10 p.m. and arrive at 7.49 p.m., instead of 8.21 p.m. The Auckland-Frankton train leaving at 5.30 p.m. and arriving at 9.50 p.m., will leave in future at 6.30 p.m. for the convenience of travellers attending sporting events in the city. It will run to Hamilton station, arriving there at 10.14 p.m. The mixed train which now leaves Paeroa at 6.32 a.m. for Frankton, arriving at 9.27 a.m., will be converted into a passenger train and will leave at 7.10 a.m., arriving at 9.13 a.m. The 4.55 p.m. train from Rotorua to Frankton will leave in future at 5 p.m. The 9.5 a.m. Thames-Paeroa train will leave at 8.32 a.m. and run through to Morrinsville, connecting with the Rotorua-Auckland express. The 9.29 a.m. train from Frankton to Cambridge, arriving at 10.40 a.m., will leave at 9 a.m. and arrive at 10.12 a.m. The 8 a.m. train from Cambridge, which reaches Frankton at 9.15 a.m., will leave at 7.40 a.m. and arrive at 8.45 a.m.
