HERD-TEST SUPERVISOR

MR. C. M. HUME APPOINTED FOUNDER OF MOVEMENT (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Friday. The appointment of Mr. C. M. Hume, of Hamilton, as Dominion supervisor of the New Zealand Group HerdTesting- Federation was confirmed in Wellington yesterday. Mr. Hume will continue to have his headquarters here, and will start his new duties on September 16. , The new policy laid down by the central executive is to improve existing herd-testing organisations and to encourage the formation of new associations. Uniformity of methods is regarded as essential. Mr. Hume is one of the founders of the movement which emanated from the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union. Mr. Hume has held the position of manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Herd-Testing Association since 1924.

At present 69 groups are operating, over 93,000 cows being under test. There are 21 associations extending from Kaitaia to Southland.
