GAY BELMONT PARTY
ST. MICHAEL’S DANCE CLUB ENTERTAINS St. Michael’s ITall, Belmont, presented an animated scene a plain and fancy dance organised by the St. Michael’s Lance Club was held. A large number of guests were present, many of whom were in fancy costume. Mrs. Sharman and Miss Thomas were the judges of the costumes, and they awarded the following prizes: Best costumes, Mrs. H. E. Burton (Night) and Miss T. Wolfenden (Minnehaha) ; most original costumes. Miss Stanley (Bon Bon) and Mrs. C. !h. Eckersley (Pack of Cards); best couple, Mrs. Waddell (Pierrot) and Miss Alma Smith (Spjamg). A “Mr. and Miss Pym” novelty dance competition was won by the Misses Curry and Platts. The latest in dance numbers was played by Mrs. Young’s Harmonic Trio, the duties of M. being carried out by Mr. A. WJones. Among those present were; Mrs. S. Dixon, Tints; Miss V. Smith. Rumanian Peasant; Miss Platts, Antarctic; Miss M. Williamson, Dutch Boy; Mrs. Newey, Red Cross Nurse; Mrs. T. G. Morrison, Old World Garden; Mrs. A. W. Jones, Lady Jazz; Miss J. Blythen,, Naval Officer. Others present included;— Mrs. G. Patrick, black satin frock, with scarlet facings; Miss M. Patterson, powder blue georgette, with rhinestone reliefs; Mrs. J. Williamson, black chenille georgette, with cameo pink wrap; Mrs. Scott, shell pink crepe de chine, with silver spray; Miss W. Smith, almond green crepe de chine, with orient pink wrap; Miss E. Smith, green tulle over gold tinsel and georgette; Mrs. G. Tuckpr, smoke grey Crepe de chine; Miss Inez Tucker, blush pink satin frock, with dipped hem; Miss D. Gower, black ring velvet, with chenille girdle; Miss C. Stevens, floral ninon and georgette; Mrs. L. Biddle, mauve spun silk frock; Miss N. Hutchinson, mauve georgette frock, with rosebud reliefs and tulle bow; Mrs. Sheridan, rainbow’ tulle over blue crepe de chine; Miss Pattie Forrest, coral pink lace over crepe de chine; Miss Unice Forrest, henna satin frock, with silver spray; Miss Ruth Hill, nile green crepe de chine; Mrs. E. McLeod, eau de nil chenille georgette, with rose pink wrap; Miss Vio Blackwell, rose pink satin, with silver girdle; Mrs. Codd, black georgette, with oriental vest. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Veronica Beulah, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Northover, of Herne Bay. to Arthur younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Paterson, of Ponsonby.
