One of the results of the conferences of the British Mission to Argentina has been the negotiation of a provisional agreement which should be of the utmost value to trade and to the commercial relations between the two countries. Details of this provisional agreement are under consideration and discussion, but its object is to make provision for the purchase during the next two years of British manufactures, to an extent of approximately £5,000,000, required by the Argentine Government for railways and public works, in return for the purchase through trade channels of Argentine food products of a similar value.
