j ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION | i COMPANY SOCIAL CLUB i DANCE 1 I MUSICAL PROGRAMME The social club of the Electric Construction Company held a delightful dance ip the Lewis Eady Hall on Saturday evening, when many members and firends were present. Music for dancing was supplied by the Ambassadors’ Orchestra, and during the evening other musical items were contributed. Songs were given by Miss K. Harrison, Mr. T. Moffatt and Mr. MacFarlane, also a whistling solo by Mr. C. Purdie. Miss A. Wilkins was accompaniste. Darley, in black georgette; Mrs. John Weatherell, in black georgette and black and silver sequin ridge coat; Mrs. H. Pen key man, who wore ciel blue taffeta frock, with silver lace; Mrs. C. Purdy, in lime tulle and taffeta ankle length frock; Miss Phyllis Rawnsley, wearing lemon georgette, with diamente trimming and uneven hem; Miss E. Deane, in a prettv frock of cyclamen lame and taffeta; Miss A. Wilkins, wearing blue and gold shot taffeta, with uneven hem; Miss Margaret Miller; who -wore white crepe de chine frock with frilled _ tulle skirt and taffeta hip bow; Miss Natalie Irwin, in black figured crepe de chine with oriental trimming; Miss L. Ellis, in a shell pink georgette, with inset lavender bands; Miss L. Stonham, in a frock of pale green taffeta, effectively trimmed with black; Miss V. Skelton, wearing a pretty jade crepe de chine frock with shawl to tone; Miss D. Edgar, in a - lace dress worn with a turquoise shawl; Miss C. Thorburn, wearing lemon taffeta with diamente trimming, and skirt of uneven hem, shawl to tone; Miss W. Langwell. in green taffeta with handkerchief flares and gold lace trimming. Miss K. Crabb was frocked in peach crepe de chine and lace; Miss P. Slaughter, in a rose satin chamois period frock; Miss L. Coyle, wearing ivorv georgette, relieved with satin beaute; Miss A. Ramsay, in a frock of black taffeta and lace with uneven hem; Miss A. Jackwavs, who chose black crepe de chine with ribbon frills and diamente relief; Miss Mavis Dobbs, in a pretty pink georgette frock, with rose Spanish shawl; Miss Rose Anderson, in cherry chenille georgette with uneven hemline; Miss M. Mathison, in a charming maize taffeta, and diamente trimming; Miss D. Douglas, wearing shell pink taffeta with tiered skirt: Miss R. Prideaux, in honeycomb velvet. with pretty rainbow tulle skirt; Miss X. Colebrook, in a delphinium blue georgette, appliqued skirt; Miss E. Shepherd, wearing primrose beaded georgette, with Chinese red chenille shawl; Mrs. G. Smith, who wore wedgwood blue period frock with silver lace hemline. Miss K. Harrison was wearing a period frock of ivory satin beaute; Miss Lea Simpson, in white satin, having a georgette skirt with uneven hem; Miss J. Blow, in lemon crepe de chine and gold lace trimming; Mrs. H. Robertson, wearing lavender crepe de chine with petal skirt: Miss Peggy Hammond, in ciel blue tinsel, with skirt of silver lace: Miss. Connie Clifton, in cherrv satin and skirt , of georgette; Miss Killeen Irvine, wearing beige crepe de soie, with slanting frills ; on skirt; Miss May Clampitr, in emerald 1 green crepe de chine with petals of net : and uneven hem: Miss Williams, in a I frock of daffodil satin beaute with'trans- ' parent hemline. LEAGUE OF PENWOMEN LITERARY STUDY SECTION The literary study section of the League of Penwomen entertained a large gathering of members on Friday afternoon with a programme of readings and recitations. Miss Burton, convener of the section, announced that this was the first of a series to be given by the various sections which meet at night, with a view to bringing their work more prominently before the members. Taking part were;—Miss N. L. Dash, who gave a paper on Galsworthy; Miss Bertram, who recited a humorous poem of de la Mare’s, “From the Ground'; Miss Sweet, a reading. “The Conspirators”; and Mrs Griffiths, recitations. “Wolsey” and “In My Indian Garden.” A scene from Goldsmith’s “She Stoops to Conquer” was given by Mrs. Richmond, Mrs. Nello Porter, Mrs. Boswell and Miss Burton.
