A PAGE FROM THE PAST—Archery still has its devotees in most countries of the world. Here we see four enthusiastic toxopholites from Japan. They belong to the Nipponese Archery Club of Oakland. California, and have attained remarkable skill with the bamboo weapons. The Japanese archers wear the picturesque costumes which their ancestors wore centuries ago and draw their bows with elaborate ceremony. These four-Shiozawa, K. Shiozawa, Aoki and Yamashita—competed for the premiership among Pacific Coast archery club members.
